Valentines Love Story
It’s Valentine Day, love is everywhere—roses, chocolates, grand gestures. But some of the deepest love stories don’t look the way we expect. Sometimes, love shows up with four legs, a soft nose, and a future that asks for sacrifice instead of convenience.
This session was created to celebrate heart horses. The ones who change us, challenge us, and teach us what unconditional love really means.
From the time Olive was little, she dreamed of owning her own horse. Like so many horse girls, that dream carried her through years of waiting, hoping, and imagining the day it would finally be hers. When she turned 18, that dream became reality. She got her horse the one she had waited for her entire life.
Not long after, her world shifted.
She learned that Deuce, her horse, had DSLD (Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Desmitis), a progressive condition that affects the suspensory ligaments and connective tissue. He was also diagnosed with HYPP, a genetic muscle disorder that can cause weakness, tremors, or even collapse if not carefully managed.
For many people, this is the moment where the dream ends.
But for Olive, it was the moment love began to look different.
Instead of giving up, selling him, or making the devastating choice to euthanize in pursuit of a “rideable” horse, she chose him. She chose to pursue answers, treatments, and management. She chose thousands of dollars in care, countless hours of worry and research, and a future where her own riding horse dreams would be put on hold—all so Deuce could have the best possible life.
She puts him first, every single day.
She knows that without her, his future would likely look very different- bounced from home to home, misunderstood, or living a life far below what he deserves. She chose to be his advocate, his constant, his safe place. Even though she cannot ride him, she never once stopped choosing him.
And that is love.
So this session, we focused on connection rather than riding—quiet moments on the ground, soft touches, and the bond that speaks without words. No saddle. No bridle. Just a girl and her heart horse.
This session is a reminder that love doesn’t always look like what we imagined. Sometimes it asks us to let go of our expectations and choose compassion instead. And sometimes, the greatest love stories aren’t about what we get but what we are willing to give.
This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating the heart horses.
The ones who may never be ridden.
The ones who require extra care.
The ones who teach us patience, sacrifice, and unconditional love.
Because those are the truest love stories of all. 💕🐴
